Ingredients
Method
- 1
Preheat the oven to 200 °C/gas mark 4.
- 2
Roast the garlic first: wrap the cloves in aluminum foil and place them in the hot oven for 20 minutes. Peel the cloves and mash the creamy garlic into a paste.
- 3
Lower the oven temperature to 180 °C/gas mark 3. Grease two baking sheets with oil.
- 4
Put the flour mix with margarine, salt, and xanthan gum in a bowl and rub everything together with your fingertips until it has the consistency of fine breadcrumbs. Add the baking powder, eggs, sage, cheese, milk, and roasted garlic puree and mix everything into a dough.
- 5
Dust the work surface with cornstarch and gently roll out the dough to a 2-3 cm thick slab. Use a smooth 5 cm diameter cutter to cut out 10-12 rounds. Place them on the baking sheets, brush with milk, and bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes until done.
- 6
Remove the scones from the oven when cooked and let them cool on a wire rack.
- 7
Slice them in half and spread with salted butter before serving.
